5-SLN: Hanjin Shipping Unclaimed Freight2016-11-16
5-SLN has been advised by M.K. Jun of Bigway I.T./South Korea that the Port of Busan has accumulated over 30,000 cargo-laden and unclaimed Hanjin Shipping containers with another 9,000 to follow. We have also been advised by Toh Albert of JSAS (Singapore) Pte Ltd that the Port of Singapore Authority has set a deadline of November 28, 2016 for Hanjin containers to be claimed or else they will be disposed of or sold off. These items can be found under 5-SLN Member News.
If 5-SLN Members have any shippers/consignees whose freight is still in limbo, we recommend visiting the Hanjin website that offers recovery assistance. Our 5-SLN Members in the relevant country that the freight is stranded in are also a valuable resource if needed.
Also, as regards Hanjin Shipping, in a surprise move on Monday, South Korea’s Korea Line has been picked as the preferred bidder to buy Hanjin Shipping’s Asia-US operations, beating out the favored Hyundai Merchant Marine.

Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with GLN2016-11-03
5-SLN is pleased to announce that a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Global Logistics Network (GLN). The basis of this MoU is to provide additional benefits to the Members of both Networks in terms of Global Coverage.
Whenever the Member Directory is used to search for a 5-SLN Member in a Country that 5-SLN doesn't have any representation, the system will then perform a secondary search of the GLN Member database and display the results. For example, 5-SLN currently does not have a member in Afghanistan so 5-SLN Members would be referred to the GLN Member in that country.
Please note that if 5-SLN has an existing member in any country, the GLN member details will NOT be displayed. This is to avoid any conflicts and give priority to our existing membership.
Additional benefits of this MoU will be to (i) develop joint initiatives that require the membership numbers of both networks to gain credibility and/or share development costs, (ii) to support each other networks in sharing information such as bad debt issues, (iii) to allow the referral of applicants to the other networks in those instances where membership quotas limitations have been met.
This MoU is being announced to benefit the Members of both 5-SLN and GLN. It formalizes a "gentleman's agreement" that was verbally agreed to when 5-SLN was initially formed whereby neither network would solicit the members of the other network. As of today, GLN and 5-SLN have only 3 members in common demonstrating the strength of this agreement.
Apart from the specific areas of cooperation mentioned above, GLN and 5-SLN will continue to compete directly with each other and will continue to be independently owned and managed by Andy Titley (GLN) and his son Trevor Titley (5-SLN).
If any 5-SLN Member has any questions concerning this MoU, please contact me for further clarification!
Sincerely,
Trevor Titley
