Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with GLN2016-11-03

5-SLN is pleased to announce that a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Global Logistics Network (GLN).  The basis of this MoU is to provide additional benefits to the Members of both Networks in terms of Global Coverage.

Whenever the Member Directory is used to search for a 5-SLN Member in a Country that 5-SLN doesn't have any representation, the system will then perform a secondary search of the GLN Member database and display the results.  For example, 5-SLN currently does not have a member in Afghanistan so 5-SLN Members would be referred to the GLN Member in that country.

Please note that if 5-SLN has an existing member in any country, the GLN member details will NOT be displayed.  This is to avoid any conflicts and give priority to our existing membership.

Additional benefits of this MoU will be to (i) develop joint initiatives that require the membership numbers of both networks to gain credibility and/or share development costs, (ii) to support each other networks in sharing information such as bad debt issues, (iii) to allow the referral of applicants to the other networks in those instances where membership quotas limitations have been met.

This MoU is being announced to benefit the Members of both 5-SLN and GLN.  It formalizes a "gentleman's agreement" that was verbally agreed to when 5-SLN was initially formed whereby neither network would solicit the members of the other network.  As of today, GLN and 5-SLN have only 3 members in common demonstrating the strength of this agreement.

Apart from the specific areas of cooperation mentioned above, GLN and 5-SLN will continue to compete directly with each other and will continue to be independently owned and managed by Andy Titley (GLN) and his son Trevor Titley (5-SLN).

3rd Annual 5-SLN Conference - March 12-15, 20172016-10-24

The 3rd Annual 5-SLN Conference will take place between March 12-15, 2017 at the Pullman Bangkok Grande Sukhumvit in Bangkok, Thailand.

The Pullman Bangkok Grande Sukhumvit Hotel is (aptly) rated 5-Star and has a large Meeting Room of over 500 sq ft which, after several weeks of negotiations, has been secured for the duration of the Conference.  In addition, 5-SLN has negotiated rates on a large batch of rooms that are lower than can be reserved on the Internet.  The  is located on Soi 30, Sukhumvit and provides luxury accommodation in Bangkok’s premier business, cultural and entertainment area. 

Based on discussions with 5-SLN Members, we have included the following in our Conference set-up:

1)  5-SLN is offering fully inclusive Conference Fees for either Deluxe Rooms or Luxury Suites - either with Single or Double Occupancy.  Delegates have the option to seek accommodation elsewhere and, in which case, the Conference Fees are as low as USD 695/person.   The Room rates charged by 5-SLN are at-cost and based on negotiated rates which are lower than can be found elsewhere on the Internet.

2)  5-SLN is offering a multiple delegate discounts of USD 100/delegate starting with the 2nd delegate from the same company.

3)  5-SLN is organizing an "Introduction to Thai and Issan Cuisine" on Monday Night to allow delegates to have an event outside of the Hotel.

4)  5-SLN is organizing a "Team Building Outing" on the Wednesday Afternoon.  Final details are still pending confirmation but we are confident that this will prove to be a great success and a fun time after 2.5 days of meetings!

5)  5-SLN will be maintaining its prior format of allowing Members to make reservations - and unlimited changes up until February 01, 2017 - at which time the invoices will be generated and payment expected by February 15, 2017.
